EDF Renewable Energy has brought its 184MW Kelly Creek wind farm into commercial operation in Illinois, and will sell the power into the PJM wholesale market on a merchant basis.
Indiana-based White Construction built the project for EDF, with Vestas supplying 92 of its V100 turbines from its cluster of factories in Colorado.
Kelly Creek, located 60 miles (97km) southwest of Chicago in Ford and Kankakee Counties, is effectively an extension of EDF’s 175MW Pilot Hill wind farm, which was completed about a year ago using a mixture of GE’s 1.7MW
