Wind power additions reached 882MW in the Netherlands this year, driven by offshore, while the onshore expansion has been slowing down to an extend that 2020 targets may not be met, the Dutch wind energy association NWEA says.

The expansion in 2016 has boosted the overall onshore and offshore capacity of the Northern European country to 4.25GW.

Most of the new capacity came from the commissioning earlier this year of the 600MW Gemini offshore wind park off the province of Frisia that pushes the country’s accumulated capacity for wind at sea to 957MW.
