Avangrid Renewables wants to build the largest wind farm in New York State, up to 350MW on privately-owned land that would supply electricity for about 60,000 homes, according to regulatory filings.

Avangrid subsidiary Atlantic Wind wants to locate the Mad River project in Jefferson and Oswego Counties that border the southeastern shore of Lake Ontario.

Last week, the developer filed a so-called Public Involvement Plan (PIP) with the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) in support of its pending application for a certificate that the project needs to advance.
