The US government has authorised construction on public lands along the 730-mile-long (1,174km) route of the $3bn TransWest Express (TWE) project, which would enable delivery of 3GW of low-cost wind energy from Wyoming to California and adjacent states.

TWE is among the largest transmission projects in the country in recent decades.

After eight years of comprehensive federal environmental review, the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) issued a right-of-way grant for the project on land it manages in Colorado, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming that will host about 60% of the project route.
