UK high altitude wind energy (HAWE) pioneer Kite Power Systems (KPS) has secured £5m ($6.19m) in new investment from utility E.ON, oil contractor Schlumberger and the venture capital arm of oil giant Shell.
The money will underpin launch of a 500kW onshore system at West Freugh, Scotland in 2017, setting in motion plans leading toward a demonstration array of multiple HAWE units "within the next 3-4 years".
