A consortium of oil major Royal Dutch Shell, Dutch companies Van Oord and Eneco, and Japan’s Mitsubishi/DGE unexpectedly won the 680MW tender for the Borssele 3&4 offshore zone in the Netherlands with a very low bid of €54.50/MWh ($57.85/MWh).

The preferred turbine supplier is MHI Vestas, said a statement from the winning consortium.

That bid is so low – it beats Dong Energy’s €72.70/MWh
