Global renewables developer RES has been given the go-ahead for one of Australia’s largest wind projects, the 420MW Murra Warra development in the state of Victoria.

The approval by the state’s government for the project paves the way for deployment of 116 turbines near Horsham, in the west of the state.

Murra Warra – which is expected to take about two years to build at a cost of A$650m – will host the same capacity as the Macarthur project, also in Victoria.
