Siemens has commissioned its first specialised vessel for the transport of turbines, as part of the German group’s ongoing efforts to cut the cost of offshore wind deployment.

Siemens and its partner Deugro launched the Rotra Vente in Esbjerg, Denmark – a roll-on-roll-off-loading (RoRo) vessel designed to replace road transportation with shipping, an option that is potentially 15-20% cheaper.
