Gujarat emerged as the focus of Sany’s huge renewable energy ambitions in India when the Chinese infrastructure group signed a $2bn pact with the state’s government.

Sany will invest in 1GW of wind between 2017 and 2022, with additional backing for “solar hybrid” projects and wind equipment production.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by Sany and Gujarat’s chief minister Vijay Rupani is said to be among the most valuable ever agreed by an Indian state.
