The 116 monopile foundations for the 1.2GW Hornsea Project 1 offshore wind farm are to be supplied by EEW Special Pipe Construction under a contract from developers Dong Energy.
Based in northern Germany, EEW will begin manufacturing the monopoles in March 2017 and will run through to April 2018. Each of the foundations for the 7MW machines installed at Hornsea will have a diameter of up to 8.1m.
