
In Pictures – Wikinger wares arrive at Baltic port of Mukran
First turbine components for Iberdrola's 350MW Wikinger wind farm in the German Baltic Sea have arrived in the port of Mukran.
The nacelles, rotor hubs and tower sections for the €1.4bn ($1.48bn) project's 70 5MW Adwen machines will be stored at the Sassnitz facility, until they can be installed in the at the development site near the island of Ruegen at the start of 2017.
The AD5-135 turbine components, which are being fabricated and assembled in Bremerhaven, are being delivered to Sassnitz via the Kiel channel.
"Wikinger is progressing on schedule and turbine installation will begin early in the New Year, as planned," says Iberdrola.
A total of five complete sets, each consisting of one nacelle, three tower segments and a hub, are now in Sassnitz, with five more sets to follow "in the coming days".
