Norway’s Statoil has topped a global league of oil and gas companies on emissions performance, following a study that shows US oil majors languishing well behind their European counterparts.

The report by non-profit group CDP puts US oil companies ExxonMobil,  Chevron and ConocoPhillips near the bottom of a league table of 11 of the world’s largest oil and gas firms, ranking them across a range of emissions-related metrics.
