ERCOT, the dominant electric grid operator in Texas, sees wind energy generation capacity surging to more than 23GW within its service territory by the end of 2017, versus 17GW through 30 September this year.
That would rank ERCOT fifth in the world for wind installations behind only China, the US, Germany and India, according to Global Wind Energy Council data at the start of this year.
