Swedish floating wind power pioneer Hexicon has handed in plans to the Scottish government to install a flagship of its twin-headed design in the deeps off the north Caithness coast.
The Dounreay Tri project, planned as a 8-12MW unit sited in 60-110 metres of water three miles (six kilometres) out to sea from the Dounreay nuclear power complex, is expected to reach a final investment decision (FID) “on or before” next April and could be commissioned in 2018.
