Italian energy giant Enel shrugged off fears over the impact of a Donald Trump presidency on its American wind and solar prospects, claiming the new administration would recognise renewables as a “great business for the US”.

Enel “doesn’t see a major challenge” in the US next year despite the election of Trump, said chief financial officer Alberto De Paoli in a conference call to discuss the group’s third-quarter financial results.
