Wind-belt states played a critical role in US President-elect Donald Trump’s unexpected triumph Tuesday and are among those with the most to gain – or lose – from his economic, energy and rural infrastructure development policies.

Now officials and workers in the renewable energy industry there want his support.

Except for relatively narrow losses in Colorado and Minnesota, Trump won handily or was leading by a large margin in Iowa, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas and Wyoming.
