French environment minister Ségolène Royal has announced two more winning bids in a tender for pre-commercial floating wind pilot plants that each will have a capacity of 24MW, as Paris is gearing up for a later commercial use of the technology.

A group by French and Portuguese utilities Engie and EDPR, plus French bank Caisse de Depots et Consignations (CDC) in consortium with Eiffage, Principle power and GE has won a bid for the Leucate zone in the Mediterranean that would feature four of GE’s 6MW turbines.
