Bob Smith, head of international business at Mytrah – one of the most ambitious players in the Indian market, with 826MW in operation and a 3GW pipeline – told Recharge a move to auctions could help it to make the most of its substantial, data-rich project base, and aid the cross-state trading of wind power in India.

The tenders will start within two months and award power-purchase agreements in a bid to procure 1GW and speed the country towards its target of 60GW of installed capacity by 2022, Varsha Joshi, joint secretary at India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, told Bloomberg.
