The Pan-Canadian Wind Integration Study, which was nearly three years in the making, concludes that Canada could source more than one-third of its electricity from wind by 2025 without compromising the grid’s reliability, and with lower overall generating costs.

Canada sources about 5% of its power from wind today.

Getting wind anywhere close to a 35% penetration would require significant investments in transmission lines and more cross-border power transfers between Canada’s provinces and with the US.
