Launching from a standing start in 2008, the UK Carbon Trust's Offshore Wind Accelerator initiative has worked with government and industry to shepherd into existence a game-changing range of innovative – and cost-slashing – technologies that are transforming the seascape of the global offshore wind industry, from new-look jacket foundations, through high-voltage cable systems, to novel personnel transfer vessels.
As the landmark programme enters the next phase, nine of the largest offshore wind power developers in Europe are joining forces with the Scottish government to stump up almost £8m ($10.3m)
