For Germany-based Senvion, a place on the EolMed project of French developer Quadran is a welcome return to winning ways for its offshore wind business, which has had little to cheer about in recent times while rivals such as Siemens and MHI Vestas hoover up major orders in the seas off Europe.

Its 6.2MW offshore machine may be beginning to look small by fixed-foundation standards, but it is still powerful enough to compete with rival offerings in a floating sector where flexibility and ingenuity are important drivers of success.
