Italian power giant Enel has set its sights firmly on Brazil’s renewables market, with plans to invest €1.4bn ($1.56bn) over the next three years to build more than 1.6GW of capacity, split roughly evenly between PV and wind.

Brazil will account for 17% of Enel's planned 2016-19 capex, giving it a prominent position in the company’s regional ambitions even as it moves aggressively into Chile, Mexico and Peru, and lays the groundwork for future successes in Argentina and Colombia.
