Scotland has outlined plans to invest an additional £1.5bn a year on infrastructure, including clean energy, first minister Nicola Sturgeon said in a speech to the Scottish parliament.

Sturgeon, unveiling the Scottish government’ programme for 2018/2019, told the Holyrood parliament that an additional £7bn would be spent on infrastructure by 2026.

The programme includes a commitment by the Scottish government to publish a report later this year on the delivery of its goal of meeting 50% of Scotland’s total heat, transport and electricity needs from renewable energy sources by 2030.
