With more than a third of the year still to go, 2018 is already officially the biggest year on record for US corporate renewables procurement, according to the Rocky Mountain Institute.

Facebook’s 437MW solar deal with utility Pacific Power last month, backed by developers including Invenergy, tipped 2018 into record territory, with the year’s tally now standing at 3.6GW.

The social media giant has been the largest corporate buyer of renewable power in the US this year, signing 10 deals in total, according to the deal tracker maintained by the RMI’s Business Renewables Center.
