Duke Energy, the US investor-owned utility, quietly decided not to pursue any wind projects out of the 500MW request for proposals it launched last year, and has instead launched a new 680MW RFP focused mainly on solar in the southeastern US.

North Carolina-based Duke, among the largest US utilities, launched a wind RFP for up to 500MW last August, saying that it was an "excellent time to pursue wind energy for the Carolinas”.
