European utilities' trade body Eurelectric has called on policymakers to minimise any disruption resulting from Brexit, including by ensuring strategic projects such as the North Sea Grid initiative transcend national borders to optimise deployment of renewables in the most cost-effective way.

In an analysis paper, entitled Brexit: EU-UK future energy and climate relationship, Eurelectric says that the UK’s geographical position makes it an essential part of the jigsaw [making up a North Sea grid] and removing this element would require a complete rethink of the project delivery process.
