Together with partners, Norwegian energy firm Equinor is looking at the possibility of supplying electricity from land to three offshore oil and gas platforms currently powered by gas turbines, in order to cut CO2 emissions from the Troll C and Sleipner area by more than 600,000 tonnes per year.
Norway derives most of its electricity from hydro-electric power, and a small but rising percentage from wind power.
