The EU's energy and climate chief has called on lawmakers to “be bold” in what is expected to be the final round of “trilogue” negotiations on a compromise deal that looks set to result in an improved EU-wide renewable energy target for 2030 in the range of 30-33%.

Miguel Arias Canete, EU commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, speaking at the opening of EU Sustainable Energy Week, said talks over the clean energy package of legislation covering renewables, energy efficiency and governance are at “a crucial moment”.
