Local supporters of the proposed £1.3bn ($1.6bn) tidal lagoon across Swansea Bay in South Wales have promised to carry on looking for alternative ways to deliver the scheme should the UK government reject the plan in the coming weeks.

A report in the Financial Times said that ministers had decided not to back project due to the high level of subsidy that developer Tidal Lagoon Power (TLP) had called for from UK taxpayers which they claim is much higher than alternative low-carbon schemes.
