A motley coalition of US energy sectors lashed out Friday after the Trump administration signaled it may take a new approach in its ongoing attempt to save failing coal-fired and nuclear power plants.
On Thursday Bloomberg News reported the existence of a draft memo being considered by the White House, which invokes national security concerns in laying out a case for the compulsory purchase of electricity or generating capacity from “fuel-secure” conventional power plants for 24 months.
