Indian developer Hero Future Energies has cut the ribbon on the country’s first wind-solar hybrid plant, uniting 50MW of turbines and 29MW of PV in the state of Karnataka.

The project added Suntech PV modules to the existing 2MW Siemens Gamesa turbines at the site, but retained the existing 50MW grid link in what HFE said will be an important test bed for efficient power evacuation from hybrid projects.
