Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has raised €3.5bn ($4.3bn) after closing its Copenhagen Infrastructure 3 (CI 3) fund – exceeding its target in the process – to be invested in renewable energy projects.

The fund obtained commitments from institutional investors comprised of pension companies, insurance groups, family offices, and asset and fund managers.

CI 3 will be a continuation of the successful predecessor fund, CI 2, which is also committed and on track to provide investors with “long term stable cash flows and above target investment returns”, CIP said in a statement.
