Tunisia is preparing to launch an international tender later this month with the aim of deploying around 1GW of new wind and solar power, said Prime Minister Youssef Chahed.

The tender, details of which are expected to be published on 27 April, will be worth around 2.5bn dinars ($1bn), Chahed added, according to the Reuters newswire.

The tender is set to cover the governorates of Nabeul and Kabli for wind projects, and Gafsa, Tataouine, Sidi Bouzid and Tozeur for solar schemes.
