Global solar power additions swelled by almost 30% in 2017 to reach 98.9GW, fuelled by runaway growth in the Chinese and Indian markets, according to latest figures from industry advocacy body SolarPower Europe (SPE).
The additions – underpinned by installations in Asia that represented over 63% of new-building last year – mean the worldwide solar expansion was nearly twice as large as that of wind in 2017, which saw 52.5GW
