The North American and Western European (NAWE) regions are expected to register “robust renewables capacity growth” over the coming decade, with the solar sector forecast to expand faster than wind – driven by the US and France, analysts at consultancy BMI Research have said.

BMI said that solar PV will drive growth overall, despite rising risks associated with the introduction of tariffs on solar equipment in the US, while in Europe, the German and French markets will make up the bulk of capacity additions.
