For the first time, more than half of the power consumed within the area of transmission system operator 50Hertz was generated from renewable sources last year, or 53.4% to be exact.
The installed renewables capacity in the TSO’s area – Eastern Germany and Hamburg – in 2017 increased to 31GW from about 29GW a year earlier. Most of that came from onshore and offshore wind power.
