The Norwegian offshore oil fraternity has made a further commitment to the fast-emerging floating wind sector, with contractor Kvaerner entering into a collaboration deal with French designer Ideol Offshore.

The tie-up is designed to offer “one-stop-shop EPCI [engineering procurement construction and installation]” based on the marriage of the “innovative power” of Ideol’s shallow-draught floating wind turbine concept and the “decades of offshore experience” of Kvaerner, which has worked as a contracting group on many of the most challenging North Sea oil and gas projects.
