General Electric has launched a new platform for its current and future energy storage products, known as Reservoir, beginning with a modular 1.2MW/4MWh unit, as it looks to catch up in the fast-moving storage market.

GE says it already has orders for 20MW/80MWh, with the smart battery systems to help power-generating customers “increase renewables integration, improve financial performance, reduce energy costs, and enable more distributed, local generation”.
