Canada’s Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. is days from finalising its purchase of a quarter stake in yieldco Atlantica Yield from Abengoa as well as launching Abengoa-Algonquin Global Energy Solutions (AAGES), a new renewables joint venture with the Spanish infrastructure group.
Announced late last year, the completion of the Abengoa deals caps a big 2017 for Algonquin, in which it significantly raised its profile in the renewables industry in North America – and, indeed, globally.
