After eight months and more than 200 submissions, Brazil’s Mines and Energy Ministry has published a draft proposal to reform of the country’s electricity sector that will change tender rules and power pricing, expand the non-regulated market, and enable future tendering for hybrid capacity.

“We undertook a series of actions to bring the power sector to reality,” Luiz Barroso, president of the federal energy planning authority (EPE) told reporters before the Mines and Energy Ministry sent the draft proposal to the presidential chief of staff for finalisation.
