Researchers at the US Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) have created an environmentally stable, high-efficiency perovskite PV cell, marking another step toward commercialisation of the promising solar technology.
The “unencapsulated” cell – meaning it is built without glass between the conductive parts and the other elements of the cell – was shown to have an efficiency of 23%.
