The Chilean government and several members of Generadoras Electricas – a trade group representing power generators in the country – have committed not to invest in new fossil-fuel projects unless they include carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology.

The companies that signed the agreement are Chile’s Colbún, Italy’s Enel, France’s Engie and AES of the US, all of which are active in all sectors of Chile’s electricity market and have invested recently in renewable power.
