Chinese new energy technology company BYD has set out plans to develop a renewables-powered agricultural R&D centre in the Middle East.
The complex of greenhouses, which would be fed by desalinated-water irrigation systems, would also feature animal feed production facilities, all powered by an in-house designed solar-storage micro-grid.
"The centre is being proposed as part of a business cooperation," said BYD Solar managing director Tom Zhao.
