Developer ACWA Power has moved ahead its first renewables project in Egypt with the award of a $190m EPC contract to China’s Chint Group covering construction of a trio of PV plants with a total power capacity of 165.5MW.

The three projects, being built under the country’s feed-in-tariff programme in the province of Aswan, will contribute to the target of 20% of energy coming from renewable sources by 2022, as set out by the government of Egypt and the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy.
