Dismay as EU ministers stick by 27% 2030 renewables goal

European Union energy ministers last night agreed to stick with proposals for an EU-wide 2030 renewable energy target of at least 27%, despite calls from the European Parliament, business leaders and environmental groups to set more ambitious goals.

In a statement the European Energy Council, which is made up of ministers from the member states, backed the 27% renewables target, which is in line with the goal firstagreedin October 2014.
