A group of more than 50 of the world’s biggest companies have co-signed a letter urging European energy ministers to back a target of at least 35% renewables in the energy mix by 2030 when they meet in Brussels next week.

The letter comes ahead of the 18-19 December Energy Council ministerial meeting. The group argues the current 27% EU-wide renewables target is too timid to spur new investment, and calls on ministers to back 35%, a goal supported by the European Parliament last month.
