The wind industry has welcomed a European Commission pledge to develop long-term strategies to help coal regions transition away from the fossil fuel as part of its wider Clean Energy Package.
The so-called Coal Regions in Transition platform has been launched by the EC’s vice-president in charge of energy union Maros Sefcovic, climate action and energy commissioner Miguel Arias Canete, and regional policy commissioner Corina Cretu.
