Crane supplier Sparrows Group has acquired Danish wind O&M specialist Alpha Offshore, in a deal that underlines the growing attractiveness of the sector to long-time contractors to the oil & gas industry.
Sparrows – a UK-based supplier of lifting and handling systems to the global energy sector – said the acquisition “significantly strengthens” its position in renewables, where it has already planted its flag with a deal to supply turbine platform cranes to Iberdrola’s 714MW EA1 offshore wind project.
