Energy minister David Mahlobo became the latest in a string of South African politicians to signal the end to a years-long stand-off over power contracts that the renewables sector says is stalling 58bn rand ($4.25bn) of investments.

South Africa plans next week to sign long-delayed power purchase agreements (PPAs) after keeping 27 renewables projects in limbo for more than two years, Mahlobo said.
