Canada’s Enbridge is “not getting out of the renewables business” and will continue pushing into offshore wind, the company tells Recharge, even as it refocuses on fossil fuels following its recent merger with Spectra Energy.

Last week Enbridge announced that it had finalised its strategic plan for the coming years, having digested its $28bn merger with Houston-based Spectra. The Spectra merger, among the oil and gas industry’s largest of recent years, created what Enbridge describes as North America’s largest energy-infrastructure company, encompassing a vast network of oil and gas pipelines, terminals and storage facilities.
